Lando Norris has had five podiums in his Formula 1 career so far, two of which came at Imola. Last year, he became the only driver outside the big three to secure a podium, which is exceptional considering the underwhelming construction unfurled by Mclaren. As we head to Imola waiting for Norris to recreate his masterclass this weekend, his hopes may stand ‘washed down’.

The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari Circuit got flooded yesterday, and F1 personnel who were already stationed there ahead of the upcoming race weekend were asked to leave. This may seem like a big setback for the teams who had high hopes for this weekend. However, Lando Norris, who has an impeccable record at the track, hadn’t set his expectations too high. While he did confess that it is an enjoyable track, he hasn’t forgotten the subpar show of Miami.

As quoted by Motorsports, he said, “Although we won’t be able to fight for the top three this season, this place brings back good memories.”

But keeping a positive attitude, he added, “I feel quite well prepared for next weekend. I worked in the simulator. I spent some time at the team headquarters in Woking, and now I can’t wait to get on the track.”

He said, “I’m excited for my first weekend in Imola. It’s a great high-speed track with great setup and I’m looking forward to practice. We’ve thoroughly reviewed our work in Miami and tried to learn as much as possible as we prepare for next weekend. I was at the factory, talked to the engineers and spent time in the simulator to be able to work well on the track.”
