After revealing the revamped AMR22 for the Spanish Grand Prix, Aston Martin riled up a lot of heat and criticism. But the young Canadian driver lance Stroll silenced those critics after the Saturday qualifying at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya.
Red Bull undoubtedly has one of the best cars this season. The Milton Keynes base is one of the teams with the least issues with the porpoising. Recently, Aston Martin came up with significant upgrades for the Barcelona race. However, what caught everyone’s attention is the close resemblance of the AMR22 to the RB18.

Many F1 fans and experts criticized the Silverstone team for copying the Austrian car. The Silverstone team, previously known as Racing Point, had been in a similar situation before when they allegedly copied the 2019 championship-winning Mercedes car in 2020.
Despite all that, the English team failed to impress at the Saturday qualifying in Barcelona even with the upgrades.

Further, Lance Stroll took a dab at all the critics who were criticizing them for copying Red Bull. He silenced them with the fact that how they qualified for P16 and P18 despite having a Red Bull copy. Stroll said, “We’d be two seconds faster if it was a copy.“
The revamped Aston Martin AMR22 got a green light from the FIA
Ever since the Silverstone revealed the new AMR22, no one can ignore the uncanny resemblance to the 2022 Red Bull challenger. So, the fans even started calling it the “Green Red Bull.” After the Friday Practice Session, Red Bull boss Christian Horner shared his concerns about an IP leak and asked FIA to investigate the matter.

“But what would be of grave concern to us would be if any IP had in any way changed hands.” The Red Bull team principal said, “That is where we rely on the FIA to do their job. They have all the access, and we will be relying on them heavily to ensure that no Red Bull IP has found its way into that car.”

However, the FIA revealed that the upgraded AMR22 shows no signs of copying the RB18. FIA’s reports further state that the Aston Martin F1 team has developed the new design based on their research over the last five races this season. After the poor qualifying performance, one can say that Aston Martin didn’t copy the Red Bull.

But the English F1 team has to work on upgrades that will turn out to be fruitful for them. They are still struggling to put up significant performances this season. Let’s see if they can somehow make it to the top 10 in Spanish GP.
