Lawrence Stroll has always had sky-high ambitions. Perhaps this is why he is a billionaire. He bought the sinking and bankrupt Racing Point in 2018 and has tirelessly worked towards making it a top team. His work and vision now seem to be reaping benefits as in 2023 they have a fast car and an even faster driver. But how did the Aston Martin move happen for the superstar driver? What exactly did Lawrence Stroll do?

Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement and set in motion the 2022 silly season. While we were expecting many moves and rookies to flood in, Fernando Alonso jumping ships from the rulers of midfield to a team that was way down in the tally was never something we expected. While it was brushed off as another one of the Spaniard’s whacky moves. But how wrong we were. Aston Martin’s 2.4-second improvement and hopes for Nando’s 33rd win is all the F1 circus can talk about and rightly so. And senior Stroll spending $18 Million to get Alonso on board is undoubtedly his best investment.

As quoted by the New York Times, Fernando revealed what exactly happened. He said, “I received a phone call from Lawrence asking if I was already committed to Alpine. I said not yet. My conversations with Alpine were quite advanced, but I didn’t have anything on paper.”He added on what Lawrence said in reply, “He said if I send you something on paper today, you will consider it. He sent it. I was happy, and as I had nothing from the other side, it was an easy decision. Everything was quicker thanks to that relationship over the years.” And this made fans extremely delighted seeing how beautifully everything worked out.

Tell me a better comeback story than Fernando Alonso. I’ll wait. But while we are waiting, let me tell you why the man racing at the highest level of capabilities at the age of 41 is pure magic. For starters, he has not even on a single occasion of his 22-year-long career failed to outperform a car. And perhaps his decade-long patience was rewarded by speed gods as he landed up in a team that fits him like a glove.
