Kimi Raikkonen is a veteran of F1 and will enter his 20th season on the grid in 2021. However, fans are skeptical if they will see “The Iceman” in 2022. Fortunately, the Finnish driver has said that the new regulations won’t decide his future.
The Finn will continue to drive for Alfa Romeo alongside Antonio Giovinazzi. Raikkonen only scored 4 points last season, which saw him finish 16th in the driver’s championship. However, he still remains motivated and hopes to have a successful season in 2021. He knows the change in the F1 rules in 2022 won’t be the deciding factor if he throws in the towel.

Kimi Raikkonen won’t be affected by 2022 rules
The new rules will see the grid get more competitive, but “The Iceman” stated it won’t affect his choice. In an interview with Sky Sports, he said.”I think everybody is excited to see what happens, but honestly, it doesn’t really dictate if I am racing or not.”

Raikkonen added, “But I hope for the sport, everybody helps the sport. It does what it is planned to do.”

He said, “It’s impossible to compare it to something we’ve run last year in different conditions.“If it’s hundreds of horsepower, for sure then you can tell, but I’m sure that it’s better, but I’m also sure that the others have not just stayed the same and where they were last year.”

“So we’ll have to wait until the race to see where we are, but I’m sure that it’s a step forward,” he concluded.
