The Imola sprint ended and fans got to witness some great battles throughout the sprint race. But the sprint race didn’t go as Kevin Magnussen planned it to go and he’s disappointed with his choice.
K-Mag has been an enormous advantage to the Haas team since he joined this season, finishing in the top 10 in two out of the three races this season. He was again impressed with his phenomenal run during the qualifying for the Imola sprint, securing a P4 despite the red flag drama on Friday.

However, the Dane failed to keep his impressive P4 in the sprint race. As the Haas driver opted for medium tires while most of the other drivers chose soft tires. K-Mag’s decision for the tires cost him to drop to P8. Because the other cars could easily overtake him using the softer compound tire.
After the sprint race, Magnussen reported, “I got a point and you know just the wrong tire, but it was kinda my decision for the medium. In practice, I did 13 laps on the soft tire and after 11 laps it was a step and that step was to continue for more, but it didn’t. It hurt me at the beginning of the first part of the race as it degrades. But it is a point and P8 tomorrow.”
Kevin Magnussen won’t mind driving in the rain
The Danish driver had a phenomenal run on Friday during the qualifying for the sprint race. Despite the quali being interrupted by rain and red flags, the Haas driver showcased some phenomenal driving on the wet track.

There are speculations it will rain during the Sunday race. So, the media asked Magnussen what he feels about driving in the rain on Sunday. But the Haas driver seems confident to drive in the rain after the phenomenal Friday qualifying. K-Mag said, “Ya, I wouldn’t mind if it rains. We will see.”

He also shared how much he’s enjoying Imola, especially on Friday. K-Maag said, “It was a fun day yesterday, getting P4 in the qualifying session, and getting the best qualifying result for Haas. It was a good day, and we enjoyed it a lot. We got the most out of it today, but I can’t wait to come back again tomorrow.”
