Haas F1 have certainly started the 2022 season in a strong manner. The American team has surprised everyone with their pace on the track and has become regular contenders for points. But Haas driver Kevin Magnussen believes that achieving a podium for the team is still a dream.

Magnussen has given hope and belief to every fan of the sport that they can be competitive everywhere. In the first two races, he was fighting against the likes of McLaren and Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes.

However, they had a surprisingly quiet weekend in Melbourne when both he and Mick Schumacher failed to finish in points. But he mentioned it is not unrealistic to think about the podium for the 2022 season.

Kevin Magnussen gives his honest take on Haas getting a podium in 2022

The Danish driver has sprayed champagne in Formula One as he bagged the podium in his debut race with McLaren in 2014. But since then, he has not stepped on the podium to take home a trophy.

However, that can very well change this season as he can certainly take that much more competitive Haas to the podium in 2022. Magnussen gave an honest assessment of the team’s chances to secure a podium this season.

“It’s certainly a dream. I think about it quite a lot. We are in the fight to be the best team after the three big ones and if you are that, then you are the seventh car on the grid if everything is normal,” said Kevin.

“So it doesn’t take that many cars to have a problem to then get a podium. And sometimes Mercedes looks like they’re not going to be so far ahead of us. So it wouldn’t take a lot of luck,” said Kevin.

The American team has never been able to finish the whole season P4 in the constructor’s championship. They got close in the 2018 season but were eventually beaten by Renault.

But it looks like they genuinely have a shot in the 2022 season to finish the best of the rest. But they need to keep developing the car and maximizing the points as much as they can on every race weekend. Let’s see if they can eventually get a podium in 2022.
