The Big Apple is almost ready to ring in “fashion’s biggest night out” – the MET Gala 2024. The star-studded event will celebrate the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new exhibition – “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”. As celebrities from across the globe put the finishing touches to their novelty looks, F1 fans only have 1 question on their minds – Will fashion icon Lewis Hamilton return to the marquee event after a 2-year absence? It looks like Kendall Jenner might’ve already answered this.

Hamilton and Jenner are two facets of Tommy Hilfiger’s global promotional efforts. While the Mercedes driver has been associated with the fashion brand since 2018, the ‘Tommy family’ welcomed the American model in 2024 for their spring campaign. The American brand used F1’s Miami GP as the perfect opportunity for these two cultural icons to join hands.

On Saturday in Miami, Lewis Hamilton took Kendall Jenner for a hot lap around the Miami International Autodrome. Taking the wheel of a $136,000 worth, orange Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, the 7-time champion terrified Jenner with the speed. What started with Hamilton asking her, “You ready?” ended up being “terrifying” for the World’s highest-paid model.

But between all the “Oh my god”, screaming “Lewis!” several times, “Holy S**t”, “I’m gonna cry”, and “I literally hate you!”, Jenner let slip their potential Tommy Hilfiger collaboration for the MET Gala. At one exciting point in the lap, Jenner exclaimed, We have the MET Gala on Monday!. It seems Hamilton is undoubtedly prepping to make his 6th MET appearance after all.

After five impressive showings in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, and the much-appreciated 2021 effort, can his 2024 appearance live up to his high standards?

Will Lewis Hamilton outclass his groundbreaking 2021 MET Gala appearance in 2024?

Lewis Hamilton has always made a conscious choice to promote inclusivity and diversity. ‘The Hamilton Commission’, established by the 7-time champion, aims to improve the representation of black people in UK motorsport. At the 2021 MET Gala, he emphasized its importance and led the way for 3 emerging black designers – Theophilio, Kenneth Nicholson, and Jason Rembert – by giving them global exposure at the event.

“The Met is the biggest fashion event of the year,” Hamilton told Vogue in 2021. “And for this theme, I wanted to create something that was meaningful and would spark a conversation, so that when people see us all together, it will put these Black designers at the top of people’s minds.”
