Reigning world champion Max Verstappen is not very fond of Drive to Survive series. He has refused to take part in the series since 2020 and has been quite vocal about his opinions. The Dutchman feels the series has faked some rivalries. He was recently also critical of friends Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo’s recent portrayal in the latest outing.

Max Verstappen is not happy with Drive to Survive
The Red Bull driver has never liked the drama involved in the series, Moreover, he feels that the series has misrepresented him. Verstappen has continuously accused the series of misusing his words and footage. The 24-year-old has now even likened the DTS drama to the popular TV show Keeping up with the Kardashians.

Several fans agree with Max and feel that the show is putting F1’s integrity at stake. Recently Lando Norris also took a dig at the series and claimed that they took it a bit far. However, comparing the series to Keeping up with the Kardashians is a surprise. The television drama that features an American family has been into several controversies. The family freely allows insight into their personal lives, resulting in several dramatized Hollywood controversies.
Drive to Survive credited for popularity peak
Formula One has seen a tremendous spike in its viewership thanks to DTS. However, the recent portrayal of certain events has irritated several drivers and fans alike. Especially, this has been a triggering point for European fans who are hardcore followers of F1.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali recently opened up about Max’s refusal to take part in the series. He said, “A driver who refuses to participate because he feels he is not being represented in the right way is not being constructive; so a dialogue is needed to understand how he can be included in a format that he feels is correct. We will also talk to Netflix, because it is necessary that the story does not move away from reality, otherwise it no longer fits.”

However, many hope that Max will sort out his issues with the series and find a common ground. After all, the series has given an impressive rise to F1’s popularity.
