Lewis remembers an instance when Kanye West inspired him to follow his passion for music.

The Mercedes driver is indeed a man of many talents. Apart from driving his Mercedes F1 car, he is also known as a fashion enthusiast, an adventure lover, and a music artist. In an old interview with City A.M from 2016, Lewis Hamilton shared the advice to him by the $400M rapper.
Back then, the Mercedes driver faced criticism for his lifestyle from former drivers like Jacques Villeneuve and Damon Hill. However, Lewis shared how Kanye spotted similarities between them. West also shared a piece of advice that kept Lewis up till 3 AM at night, making music before a race.
Lewis said, “I went to see Kanye at his house and he goes, ‘You know, me and you are very much the same’. “He said, ‘I’m big in the music world but I’m trying to do what I love in fashion and people don’t like it”.
He further added, “You’re big in your racing world but you love your music and people will probably struggle to accept that. You need to do what you love and not give a f*** about what anyone thinks’.”
“Ultimately, we shouldn’t feel like we need to shrink ourselves for other people to feel comfortable.”

Lewis Hamilton will now shift his focus to the upcoming Mexico GP. He finished 2nd in Austin behind Red Bull driver Max Verstappen.
Lewis Hamilton encouraged by Friday’s FP session in Mexico
Even though they haven’t had the best of seasons, Lewis Hamilton was happy with his Friday session in Mexico. Hamilton and Mercedes are without a win this year. Furthermore, they find themselves third in the constructor’s championship behind Red Bull and Ferrari. However, Lewis will be looking to secure his first win of the season and relieve some pressure off his team.
Hamilton said, “I feel really, really good. We generally had a really good session today. I really enjoyed driving around the track”.

He further added, “The car is feeling better and better as we work more through it and we understand it more. I don’t know really where we stand compared to others because everyone’s on different programmes”.
Hamilton is currently 6th in the driver’s championship behind George Russell and Carlos Sainz. He will be hoping for more points this weekend to leapfrog the Ferrari driver.
