Formula 1 drivers these days take their physical and mental health seriously. They have rigorous training regimes that keep them race-ready at all times. Also, with the F1 calendar adding more and more races each year, the drivers need to keep themselves in top-notch condition. But the off-season is one time when everyone goes a little easy. Despite that, drivers need their regular dose of thrill to keep them going.

What Lewis Hamilton does to keep the highs from the race going

Last year Lewis Hamilton appeared in an interview with Desus & Mero on Showtime. He talked about various things ranging from Met Gala to rivalry with Max Verstappen. But one part of the interview that caught our attention was when he talked about the need for adrenaline when he’s not racing and what activities he engages himself in.

“I love surfing. I sky dive, love skydiving,” Lewis said. The shocked hosts asked him if he was “an adrenaline junkie”. Hamilton answered, “Yeah, you basically have to substitute it. Sir Hamilton rides a fighter jet

Lewis was inspired to become a fighter pilot after he watched the original Top Gun during his childhood. He was so stoked when he learned Tom Cruise was making Top Gun Maverick that he begged him to give him a role in the movie. Tom offered him a role of a fighter pilot alongside himself, but Hamilton couldn’t commit to the project owing to the ongoing F1 season.

The 7-time world champion may have missed out on a role in his dream movie, but soon he got to ride a fighter jet. Mercedes posted a promotional video last month on Twitter where Lewis Hamilton raced a fighter jet in his race car. In the latter half of the video, he is seen in a fighter jet enjoying the ride and giving out a “woohoo”.
