In Monaco, Max Verstappen was sandwiched by the Mercedes for the entirety of the race. The W15 had some upgrades and Lewis Hamilton managed to clock in the fastest lap of the race. This is unusual, as the 7-time champion is often found complaining about the car’s performance. But now it looks like Mercedes is catching up with George Russell, qualifying ahead of Verstappen in an RB20.

Jos Verstappen is not happy with the output and he has started to put pressure on Christian Horner. Toto Wolff has been talking to the father of the 3-time world champion and is optimistic about having a better season next year as rumors of Max Verstappen joining the Silver Arrows surround the paddocks.

Max Verstappen qualifying P6 is a shocker at Monaco, as this was the first time the Dutch driver missed starting at pole this season. After tying the record with Ayrton Senna of 8 consecutive poles, Verstappen took a hit at the iconic Monte Carlo circuit. This is something that Jos Verstappen was not going to sit on the sidelines and watch. “Something has to change,” warns Jos Verstappen, as Max has been the fastest driver at Monaco during 2 Grand Prix.

Verstappen believes that the car was the season his son could not qualify better than 6th. Although there was no movement in the pecking order through the race, Verstappen senior believes that given a better car, Max could have been able to overtake George Russell.

According to Formule1.nl, Papa Verstappen did not completely dismiss his trust in the team, “There will certainly be competitions where Red Bull will look good again, but I am very curious how they will solve this.” Currently, the RB20 does not look like the fastest car on the grid, at least not for the last 3 races. Ferrari and McLaren’s recent upgrades have changed the game and the Milton Keynes outfit is yet to respond.

Jos Verstappen identified a few issues as he explained, “They have to find out where the problems come from. It is clear that teams like Ferrari and McLaren are getting closer. Max was able to mask that somewhat, but you now also see the big difference with teammate Sergio Pérez.” But while Jos Verstappen is waiting for Christian Horner to make a move, Toto Wolff is feeling positive about Mercedes’ next season.
