The race weekend in Monaco was quite chaotic, but Red Bull had a great weekend with Sergio Perez winning the race and Max Verstappen finishing third. However, Jos Verstappen didn’t like his son’s Monaco results.
The reigning champion didn’t have the best weekend. Max struggled to find the pace throughout the weekend while Perez was shining at the Monaco circuit. Perez even qualified ahead of the Dutchman. Verstappen, on the other hand, could only manage P4 behind his Mexican teammate, who secured a P3 start for the race.

Red Bull didn’t look after the championship leader in Monaco
The senior Verstappen didn’t like that Max finished third in the Monaco GP, the same race where he won last season. He even blamed the Milton Keynes-based team for not paying enough attention to the reigning champion, who is also the championship leader.
P3️⃣ is all in all a good result for us after a bit of a difficult weekend. So I’m happy with that.
A great strategy by the team gave us the opportunity to get this double podium, congrats everybody on such a good Sunday @redbullracing 👏 pic.twitter.com/eBXsufbkC9

Verstappen finished the race in third, but he might have missed out on the podium if Ferrari had not made the double-stack pit-stop mistake. Looking at everything that happened, Jos wrote in his column, “Red Bull achieved a good result, but at the same time exerted little influence to help Max to the front. That he finished third, he owes to Ferrari’s mistake at that second stop of Charles Leclerc.”

“The championship leader, Max, was not helped in that sense by the chosen strategy. It turned completely in Checo’s favor. That was disappointing to me, and I would have liked it to be different for the championship leader,” Max’s father concluded.
Max Verstappen should be aware of Checo
Perez made a massive contribution last year, that helped Verstappen lift his maiden world championship. Further, Red Bull favored the Dutchman over Sergio the previous season because of the vast point difference. But that might not be the case in 2022.

The Mexican is in his best form and has showcased phenomenal performance in the last seven races. After the Monaco GP, there is only a 15 points gap between the two drivers. Checo is currently ranking P3 and is very much in contention for the championship besides Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
Even team principal Christian Horner gave the green light to the Red Bull duo to fight for the championship. Horner reported, “It doesn’t matter which of the two becomes world champions.” (translated using Google)
