Recently, 2009 Formula One champion Jenson Button spoke about former teammate Lewis Hamilton. Among other subjects, the veteran racing driver talked about his compatriot’s use of social media. Over the past couple of years, Hamilton has been using his social media reach to become a proper influencer.

Speaking to Planet F1 in an interview, Button said, “He has come a long way, he really has. He had a lot of insecurities in the past with racing, I remember the time he thought I’d unfollowed him on social media when we were team-mates – “Oh, I thought we were better friends than this. Jenson has just unfollowed me.” – and then he posted again saying “Sorry, Jenson never actually followed me.”

What else did Jenson Button say about Lewis Hamilton?

Since then, the former F1 driver has confessed that Hamilton’s maturity has impressed him. The seven-time Formula One champion now boasts of a massive fan following on social media. In addition to that, he has gone on to achieve more than possibly any F1 driver has this year in F1.

The former McLaren driver wondered whether others have pushed Hamilton in this direction. Whatever the case, Button truly believes that his compatriot is doing the right things. This is why he believes that Formula One is seeing a different Lewis Hamilton in 2021.

Of course, Jenson Button confessed that he still believes that Hamilton has not got rid of all insecurities. However, he is glad that his former teammate appears to be much more relaxed. In addition to that, the British superstar has begun to use his voice to truly open people’s eyes to the bigger world.

For now, Hamilton is recovering from a poor Monaco Grand Prix weekend. This weekend, he is visiting the Baku City Circuit in Azerbaijan, a track where he has won before. However, the momentum is currently with Red Bull and title rival, Max Verstappen.
