After serving as the penultimate race of and hosting multiple title-deciding races, including James Hunt’s 1976 championship title, the Japanese Grand Prix, for the first time in the event’s history, will be held in April. The 2024 edition of the race in Suzuka has come in the fourth round of the calendar as the sport caters to the extensive travel demands and its subsequent environmental impact. This early scheduling is in line with F1’s bid to become more sustainable and its promise of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2030.
Despite the early scheduling, we might witness similar temperatures and weather conditions for the upcoming race at Suzuka, a track with a long-standing relationship with the sport, specifically from 1987. After the recent renewal, now the race is set on the calendar till 2029, barring any external factors like the Covid-19 pandemic because of which the 2020 and 2021 races were canceled. One of the toughest races on the calendar, Suzuka is also the only figure-of-eight track in F1. Now, after featuring multiple title deciders and an unfortunate fatal accident, the Japanese Grand Prix will add to its legend on the first weekend of April, so let’s look at the schedule of the upcoming race in Suzuka.
