Remember how Lewis Hamilton slammed Mercedes for not listening to him about the car problems with the Zeropod concept at the Bahrain GP? The Briton accused his team of developing a car in the wrong direction despite the heads-up given by the 7x champ. Well, as Max Verstappen put Hamilton to shame at the Japanese GP, the Brit once again shredded his team to bits. But what did Lewis Hamilton say?

Mercedes was competing for the win at the Singapore GP. However, the Japanese GP qualifying reminded the Silver Arrows of their lack of competitiveness as Max Verstappen stormed the whole field to take the pole. And it wasn’t only the fact that he got the pole, but the fact that his gap to Hamilton was over a second. Amid all this, Lewis Hamilton advised on how his W14 lacks the rear-end stability and feel. He then slammed his team by explaining how Mercedes has a subpar day every weekend.

According to @JanaidSamodien_’s Tweet, Lewis Hamilton, during the post-qualifying interviews said, “Yesterday, was a bad day. Each weekend, we have at least one bad day. We made some changes overnight, and the car has been a bit better to drive. The seven tenths deficit in sector 1, is all in the rear. We have a strong front end.”

Hamilton explained how the Friday practice sessions weren’t optimized by the team and that the time loss is all dependent on the lack of read end. Despite the fact that Mercedes has generally been strong in race trim, Lewis Hamilton advises on struggling during the race day.

Lewis Hamilton expects a tough Japanese GP main race

The W14 generally comes alive on race day, especially when the fuel load drops. However, concerned about the lack of rear grip, Lewis Hamilton explains that Mercedes is going to struggle on Sunday and that it’s going to be a tough race for them. George Russell also echoed Hamilton’s emotions, as he expected the pecking order to remain the same.

According to Formula1.com, Lewis Hamilton, when asked about having a better pace during the race, said, “No. Think we are just going to struggle like everybody else. It’s going to be tough tomorrow.” The King’s Lynn-born driver, Russell, also doesn’t expect any miracles, as he said, “I think the gaps will reduce, but I suspect the order will maintain.”
