A place where you can catch all 20 drivers in action, just not a racing one. Yes, we are talking about the secret society or F1 drivers or simply put their WhatsApp group. McLaren driver Lando Norris is known to speak his heart out and never mince his words. The man has sometimes even gotten into trouble for revealing too much and, on occasion, doing that accidentally. However, this time around, the Briton very carefully let the world in on just the right amount of information about an F1 legend, James Hunt being the lead man, and more. Lando Norris reveals it all, or maybe not.
When Grand Prix Drivers Association director George Russell revealed that the conversation on the F1 driver WhatsApp group gets out of hand, the world stood in awe of the relatability of the situation more than anything else. The secret of the existence of the group was revealed and now another man who joined the grid along with Russell has given the F1 world a sneak peek into the juicy bits. When he visited the Fast and the Curious podcast, he provided some interesting information about the said chat group.
As quoted by F1 Maximaal, the cheeky Lando said, “We have a really nice group photo,” He then added, “It’s James Hunt.” The papaya driver then added that the group has more serious undertone and doesn’t only gets used for making jokes and sending nice photos to each other. “It’s actually mostly used for serious stuff and not like, hey we’re all friends here ,” says Norris, affirming what Russell had said earlier about the chat exploding. “Obviously that happens from time to time, but it’s mainly used to talk about things that can help us as drivers, especially about the rules and how we can represent each other and ourselves.” [Translated using Google]

A full house. 20 drivers of the Formula 1 grid chatting it out on a WhatsApp group. While that may sound like a Drive to Survive episode build-up, the reality is not far from it. On the same Fast and Curious podcast, Norris reveals the drivers who were active in the group right then but is sad to see an integral social media element missing out.
He said, “We just talk to each other a bit and then some people come up with different ideas and it carries on,” says the McLaren driver. “If I take a quick look now, I see Esteban (Ocon, ed.), Zhou (Guanyu, ed.), and Alex (Albon, ed.). Everyone says something, but unfortunately, I don’t see any memes.” [Translated using Google]
