Before the 2022 season commenced, Haas had to part ways with their primary sponsor Uralkali due to the Russian-Ukraine fallout. But it didn’t end there, as the Kannapolis-based team also had to terminate their contract with Russian driver Nikita Mazepin. With a few days to go for the new season testing, Haas announced that they would take in Kevin Magnussen to pair up with Mick Schumacher.

Kevin Magnussen has already been a Haas driver for four years. His last stint with the team lasted from 2017 to 2020, when he and Romain Grosjean had to pave way for the new Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin driver pair. With Kevin back, Haas is back in the points as well.
Kevin and Mick took Haas to a new height. In just two races, the American team scored more points than they did in the entire 2020 season. “It’s very interesting to see how Kevin approaches a GP weekend. We can benefit from each other in the way he feels from the car and what I feel. We share all the information, it’s very open about how the car behaves in different corners,” the 23-year-old driver further asserted.

With Nikita and Mick, Haas couldn’t live up to their expectations. Both the drivers failed to pick up a point as Haas finished in P10 in Constructor’s Championship. However, things look bright for the American team as Kevin brought them a brilliant 12 points in the first two races. With Mick improving on his performances, it’ll be interesting to see if Haas can overtake Alpine and take the P4 in the Constructor’s standings.
