Sebastian Vettel has finally bowed out of the sport. The German international, after encapsulating the world of Formula 1 with his charm, raced his final race in Abu Dhabi. However, before leaving, the four-time world champion shared a heartfelt message for his former team.

One would assume the message would be for Red Bull, the team with which he scored his first points, secured his first pole position, and won his first race and championship. Not just one championship, however. Vettel won four back-to-back championships with Red Bull.

He said, “I’ve missed you the day I left. I think I realized, even though I found another home, a lot of nice people to work with, but Ferrari is something special.”

Back in 2018, Vettel was sporting the Ferrari red. As the circus landed in Germany for the race in Hockenheim, Vettel was in pole position for the race and in the championship. However, he crashed out of both after an unforced error because of light rain. Possibly one of the few regrets in his life, according to Vettel.

“It’s not the worst mistake I’ve made in my career. It hurt me a lot because it happened in Germany in front of my home crowd on a track I love and it cost me a lot,” he admitted.
