The world of Formula 1 is buzzing with exciting headline-worthy news every other day. In this chaos, however, one might overlook or even forget how Andretti Autosport got their bid to join the circus rejected. The bid was rejected by Formula One Management (FOM) despite the American racing giants getting the nod from the FIA. This decision by the Formula 1 bosses has earned them some criticism from Andretti’s former ally.
Andretti’s F1 dream suffered yet another setback in 2024 with their wish to join the premier class in 2025/26 crushed by the sport’s owners. Some reports even suggest Andretti will stay in America, but add a NASCAR branch to their racing tree. However, discussing the current events of F1, Mario Andretti’s ex-teammate Michael Bleekemolen ridiculed the sport for its decision as quoted by F1 Maximaal.
“I think it is a very bad thing that Liberty Media, or the FOM (Formula One Management, ed.), ultimately does not want an eleventh team,” said Bleekemolen.

Addressing F1’s reasoning behind the refusal, he added, “What they say is total b*llshit. I think that’s such strange nonsense. If Andretti were to participate as a team, it would offer so much added value. That statement they made really makes no sense at all.”
Clearly, the Amsterdam-born racer does not agree with the FOM and he isn’t the only one. The FIA is launching an investigation to determine the reason behind FOM refusal.

However, the FOM spoiled their party by refusing entry in the coming season for various reasons. But the doors remain open for a retry in 2028. However, the FIA is not content with its statement and reasons for refusal and has launched an investigation into the matter.

The FIA statement read, “The FIA notes the announcement from Formula One Management in relation to the FIA Formula One World Championship teams’ Expressions of Interest process. We are engaging in dialogue to determine the next steps.”
We are not sure if the FIA will be able to reverse the decision. But the governing body can surely ask some questions and we would like to know the answers as well.
