Sebastian Vettel closed a six-year-long chapter with Ferrari this season. He is now moving on to the newly-rebranded Aston Martin team next season. The four-time world champion provided an exclusive interview to Beyond The Grid.

Through the podcast, we get to know a lot more about Vettel. The German talks about his evolution in Formula 1, his priorities, his future with Aston Martin, and about his car and bike collection.

During the interview, Tom Clarkson asked Vettel about his bike collection. “Yeah, I have some old bikes. I just like to go out, again if the weather is nice,” he said, ” just to have a joy ride really for an hour to thirty minutes.”

“The oldest [bike] I have is 1928. That’s the challenge in itself to fire it up and then also to actually drive. Then you have the Italian bikes, the English bikes.

“I just like the sound,” added the former champion.

Sebastian Vettel also has a love for vintage cars

As Sebastian Vettel mentioned, he loves his bikes. However, the racing icon is a little scared about pushing the bikes and believes they can be dangerous. Thus, he also shared his love for vintage cars.

He said, “What I like about old things is that you get what you see or you see what you get. Nowadays, with a modern car, I mean they’re nice cars don’t get me wrong. But I don’t think you can attach to them as much as the old cars.

“Especially, Behind the scenes or underneath the hood or bonnet, what’s going on, because you haven’t got a clue. It’s full of plastic, it’s all covered up and all the magic happens somewhere else.”

Vettel admitted that he failed to reach his goals at Ferrari. However, the German is optimistic about his future. Vettel believes Aston Martin will grow and hopes to bring a lot to the team; hopefully, he will be back to his podium days with them next season.
