Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel are prime examples of how F1 rivals can still be great friends. However, that does not apply to Horner and Wolff’s case. Horner recently came out explaining his relationship with Mercedes CEO as he dismissed the possibility of friendship just days after blocking Toto Wolff’s number. What was Horner’s explanation?

The bond shared between Toto Wolff and Christian Horner is that of arch-rivals. Especially after the 2021 season, things seem to have taken a prominent southward direction. While both parties respect what the other one stands for, calling them friends will be a far-fetched dream. Christian Horner recently advised that Toto Wolff cannot contact him as his number is blocked on his phone. 

Just days after that statement, Horner has now come out with a fiery statement regarding why the two TPs cannot be friends. The Red Bull TP suggested that he has respect for Toto Wolff but cannot be friends with him as it’ll be dishonest to be friends with fierce competitors. According to @FastestPitstop’s tweet, Christian Horner said, “I have a huge amount of respect for everything that he has done and achieved. But we’re competitors. I’ve never been a believer that you can be the best mate with your competitor. I think it’s dishonest.”

Horner, explaining how he expects his team to see every other team as a competitor added, “I want everybody in my team to see that whoever we’re racing against is the competition, that’s who we’re there to compete with, and as a team that we’re united.”
