This weekend in Imola was another disappointing one for Lewis Hamilton and co. He qualified P13 on Friday and would go on to finish P14 in the sprint race. The main race saw no improvements as he finished P13 in the race once again. However, Toto Wolff has continued to back his driver through these turbulent times and has also told the fans about their biggest challenge at the moment.

Toto reveals the real reason behind Lewis’ disastrous Imola GP run
This weekend in Imola left the Briton distraught with no points to his name. However, Mercedes team principal, Toto Wolff, came to his driver’s rescue. He said, “But I want to protect Lewis, it’s not like he’s at a low point. The car is at an all-time low.”
Wolff went on to add, “Lewis is the best driver in the world, but he doesn’t have the equipment to show that at the moment.” Wolff also went on to speak about these inconsequential results, “Whether you’re eighth, twelfth or fifteenth is irrelevant: it’s all bad.”
On the other hand, Hamilton’s teammate George Russell has performed far better than his compatriot, getting a podium in Australia and a P4 finish this weekend in Imola.
Wolff backs Lewis Hamilton through a shaky start to 2022
Although Lewis Hamilton has had a dismal start to life in 2022, his team Principal, Toto Wolff, is still standing strong by his side. Wolff defended the seven-time world champion by taking the examples of other greats before him.

He said, “There have been so many great drivers in history who went through a difficult period and recovered from it.”
He also emphasized that the team was doing the best they could to make up the gap to the front. Wolff explained, “Lewis is also doing everything he can with the team to solve the problems. We work together through good times and bad and this was a really bad day.”
