Ferrari’s nightmares continue to haunt them even in Monza. After a disappointing weekend in Belgium, Ferrari looked forward to improving in their own country. However, Sebastian Vettel dropped out of Q1, while Charles Leclerc finished in P13.

The radio conversation between Leclerc and the Ferrari pitstop exposes the weak power unit of Ferrari. Pushing for more power as directed from the Ferrari unit, Leclerc states he is doing the best he can do.

“Best I can do. The best I can do”, Leclerc sounded dejected and a bit frustrated with the inability to push the car forward.

Approaching the finish line, Leclerc was instructed to cut down on pace and informed about his position in the qualifiers.

“Slow button on, slow button on and you’re P13. Ocon P12, lap time 20.2, and P10 Albon with 20.0”

Following the race, qualifying in P13, Leclerc spoke about the shortcomings in the team. Accepting the rough patch of Ferrari was indeed a sensible decision from the young racer.

“Well in the end we expected a little bit coming into the weekend. We know that Spa and here are probably the two worst tracks for us. We don’t know the one probably a bit later in the year. But I mean it’s like this it’s tough because once you do a good lap and you end P13, it doesn’t feel good. For now, it’s like this, and I have to extract the maximum out of the car in the situation we are in and that’s what I try to do.”

With Formula 1 returning from the COVID-19 break, all the races are being conducted behind closed doors. Fortunately for Ferrari, their embarrassment was not right in front of their fans. However, the humiliation would haunt Ferrari fans for a long time. Mattia Binotto has very little time to recover from the mess Ferrari is in. With the 1000th race of Ferrari scheduled in Tuscan, the outrage would be massive unless Ferrari pulls off a respectable finish, considering they are no way near a podium finish.
