“Equal engines for everyone” is what Fernando wished for from new F1 owners in 2017. Lewis Hamilton was against this idea when Fernando Alonso proposed it during a press conference at the Australian GP. But have you wondered what would happen if two title contenders were in the same car with equal engines? This question was pitched to Peter Windsor on his YouTube Live with respect to Max Verstappen and Hamilton being the title contenders. And he had an answer ready immediately, and it was in favor of the Dutchman.
Red Bull has been a force to reckon with in the last few years. Though Hamilton might have been against the idea of equal engines when he was dominating the grid, now he finds himself longing to emerge victorious in a race. Verstappen v/s Hamilton and Red Bull v/s Mercedes were all that the front of the grid was about. But what if they were on the same team?

An F1 fan asked the same question to Windsor on YouTube: “If Max and Lewis were teammates in the Red Bull RB19, who would win the championship?” Windsor said, on his YouTube live, “In that situation, I think it would be Max because Max has this symbiotic relationship with Adrian (Newey) and to some extent, with Christian (Horner). Lewis might outqualify Max for a tenth or two. But in terms of overall, in a season, it would almost impossible to beat the Max Verstappen-Adrian Newey partnership.”
Windsor’s “symbiotic relationship” might be true as Verstappen’s manager confirmed that the Dutchman has no plans to even think of leaving Red Bull even in the long term.

Ever since Verstappen stepped foot in the Red Bull car, it has been a fairytale to him. Of course, he has had his share of struggles and failures. But his dream run with the Milton Keynes outfit continues. Verstappen made the headlines after he spoke about exploring opportunities other than F1. However, his manager has put a lid on the topic.
Verstappen’s manager, Raymond Vermeulen spoke to Dutch magazine Formule 1, as quoted by Express.co.uk, “Why would Max make a switch now in this situation? We are not interested in that. And as you can see, Max is in the roll of his life, driving without pressure.”

As his manager said, Verstappen is “driving without pressure”. And when a driver is able to do work effortlessly, no other competitor can come close to dethroning him. Windsor’s statements ring true in this situation as Max Verstappen continues his dominance.
