This season in F1, it has not been smooth sailing for Mercedes. They’ve had plenty of struggles with their car, and their position. Silver Arrows have been worried about ending this season without a single win. However, Mercedes driver, George Russell, has been fairing well and has been gathering more points than the seven-time world champ.
The Briton was asked about his views on the subject in a very recent interview. And he embraced this opportunity to share how he really feels about the whole situation.

Lewis spoke up in a recent interview about a fellow teammate making his move up the ladder. Holding more points this season, George has been the talk of the town. Hamilton shared that the competition isn’t bothersome to him. He states that he ‘doesn’t mind’ Russell finishing in front of him this season.

Mercedes had been facing a lot of issues with their AMG F1 W13 this entire season. The car has been reported to be porpoising, making it hard for the drivers in the seat to navigate it smoothly. However, as the issue was addressed and catered to, the season was already underway. This left little to no chance for the Silver Arrows to find their place back at the top.
Lewis Hamilton also delved into the difference in approach between him and his teammate, Russell.

Furthermore, the seven-time champ also explained how things have been different for Russell as compared to him.
He stated that Russell has been able to maneuver the difficulties of the car in a much better way than he has. Despite the car issues, Hamilton admits that George has managed to drive it much faster. The Briton also shared that Russell has managed to bag more points since he doesn’t quite experiment with the car.

However, the Briton is very proud of his fellow teammate and stresses on the great performance he has been delivering.
In conclusion, he added, “Hopefully next year, when we have a better car, we can focus on getting the most out of the car instead of messing around with crazy set-ups. Then it will be a fairer duel.”
