From playing his father’s gifted radio-controlled car to owning “something like 15 cars”, Lewis Hamilton has come a long way. The boy from Stevenage was indulged in cars since his childhood. Lewis Hamilton jokes about an anecdote, where his Mercedes C-200 helped him and his friends when they were younger.

Lewis is currently the joint-highest title winner in F1 history. However, the Mercedes man has never been short of confidence. In fact, a young Lewis went on and told McLaren boss Ron Dennis that he was going to race for him someday. That promise came to fruition in 2007 when Lewis raced for them and narrowly missed out on the title.

In an old interview, Hamilton reveals how he got a secondhand mini-cooper after passing his driver’s test in 2002. Additionally, Lewis stated about his teenage experiences in the $44k worth Mercedes C-200. A car that was lent to him by the dealership.

Lewis Hamilton said, “That was very cool when you’re only 18. It went down very well with the ladies! Me and my boys couldn’t get into clubs because we looked underage, but once we started rolling up in the C-class we were straight in!”

“The things we did to get into a crappy bar in Stevenage . . . so funny.”

It’s no mean feat winning the F1 championship. However, it appears to be a cakewalk for Hamilton. After all, he’s only won it 7 times. No big deal. Jokes apart, Lewis Hamilton has sacrificed and endured a lot to reach the position he is in today. The Mercedes driver reveals how he’s always on top of his game.

In an interview with Marriott, Lewis explains how he manages to keep himself motivated. Hamilton said“I think it’s in my DNA; I’m just super-competitive. I can find motivation in so many different things.”

He added, “It could be my younger brother, who constantly goes out and pushes the limits and does the unimaginable with the disability, cerebral palsy, that he has. It could be a kid that I meet, who’s also gone through some things. Inspiration is definitely something that you can feed off.”

Lewis also states that he often analyses the aspects where he can improve himself and raise the bar instead of degrading his usual high standards.
