The Alpine driver, who beat Michael Schumacher to win his first title, believes that Verstappen is a prodigious talent. Alonso also believes that Max Verstappen rising to the very top of F1 should not surprise anyone. The Dutchman was bound for greatness, according to Fernando Alonso.

Fernando said, “You cannot teach that. It has to come from yourself. There are drivers that need more time, they need to study more data, they need all of Friday to analyze and compare with a teammate and slowly make little steps until they are 100 percent ready for quali.”

He also added, “And there are others that are 100 percent in FP1. Max is one of those and he has always been like that, from go-karts to now, so it should not be a surprise to anyone.”

Max Verstappen can win his second successive title in Japan and join the elite list with Alonso amongst others. After missing out on the chance to seal the title in Singapore, he’ll be eyeing the Japanese GP.

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen did not enjoy the Singapore GP

The reigning world champion had the chance to win the Singapore GP and become a double world champion. However, he had a frustrating weekend throughout. His qualifying was first interrupted by a late call to abort his lap. The main race didn’t help his cause either as he finished a disappointing P7.

Furthermore, the Dutch Lion said, “That is normally not the problem, we are still 104 in the lead, but it is just a very frustrating weekend.” Max acknowledged the fact that he had a comfortable lead but wanted to give his best in every race.

He also mentioned the disappointment of poor qualifying. Max said, “It started, of course, yesterday with the big f— up in qualifying.”
