Almost a decade ago the world of F1 stood still when the news of Michael Schumacher‘s skiing accident hit the shelves. The German’s serious head injury in the French Alps spread like wildfire, sending a shiver down everyone’s spine. Luckily, Michael Schumacher survived the accident, but he was never the same. This tragedy is still fresh in the minds of many, including the ex-Ferrari boss who recently recalled the devastating events in Meribel.

The ex-Ferrari boss is none other than F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. The 58-year-old was the last Ferrari boss to bring silverware to Maranello. However, more than anything else, he takes pride in being part of the legendary Ferrari era, which saw Schumacher win his five consecutive championships. Having worked with the German closely, and being touched by his infectious charm and his childlike wants, the CEO felt nostalgic.

The F1 CEO recently made an appearance on the ‘Politics in Football’ podcast. During his conversation, he talked about various aspects of the sport and discussed the current domination by Max Verstappen. This led to the ex-Ferrari boss talking about a similar era of domination, and Verstappen also reminded him of the German legend. As quoted by Gazzetta, the F1 boss got a little emotional talking about the tragic incident in Meribel.

Domenicali said, “It seems like yesterday, his accident in Meribel, they are episodes that change your life. Out of respect for him and his family, we must stay close to him. This difficult situation remains. What is between me and the family remains private, but living like this for ten years is something you would never wish even on your worst enemy.” (Translated via Google)
