The second race of the season in Saudi Arabia is finally over, with Max Verstappen winning the race, followed by the Ferrari duo at second and third place. The entire race was a saga of yellow flags. It affected Sergio Perez the most who lost his lead in the race because of it.

The Mexican showcased some impressive performances on the tricky Jeddah circuit. It is one of the most dangerous and complex race tracks. But Checo dominated the track with his skills and experience as an F1 driver during the Qualifying. So, he started the race at the pole and he was outstanding from the start. The Mexican was chased by the Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc ever since the race started. Checo was phenomenally protecting his lead, but tables turned for Checo after a yellow flag incident.

Perez pits during lap 16 to change his tires, but Nicholas Latifi crashes at that same time, leading to a safety car session. This turned the entire tide of the race for Checo who lost his lead because of it. Eventually, the Mexican had to finish the race with a P4. After the race, Perez shared his disappointment about the incident, although his team was ready for a situation like this.

Sergio Perez reported, “Well, this is just racing and especially at this place. We knew that we could be in that situation. We knew the undercut. The margin we were looking at and things were looking really good. But unfortunately, Latifi put it in the wall at the wrong time for me, but this is racing.”

“It will come around one day. But it hurts because we did everything we could to win from the pole. I was told to give it back. I thought it was fair enough,” the Red Bull driver added.

Sergio Perez is one of the most experienced drivers on the grid but was lacking a strong car in the past. But he is now driving for the Red Bull and has the perfect one-seater to fight for race wins. Perez has become a vital part of the Austrian constructor. He even helped them bag many podiums last season, including his second win last season.
