The 25-year-old has secured his 19th pole and is looking forward to breaking the record for most wins in a season. German Greats like Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel had named themselves 13 wins in a season, and with the pole position at Mexican track, Max Verstappen will not let go of the golden opportunity.
The Dutchman has had a really successful run at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez track. Knowing all the turns well, the two-time world champion knows that sitting at pole doesn’t guarantee victory. He said, “I’ve been here everywhere except on pole and yet we won those races, so I mean.”
The 25-year-old further stated how crucial it is to have a good start at the track, “Our top speed is also not wrong to defend with, at least not when others are in the slipstream. ” said the Dutchman. “We have to focus on that and if we have good race speed, it can be a fun fight. But of course I try to stay at the front in turn 1.”

Mexican crowd wanted Sergio Perez not Max Verstappen to be Polesitter
After last year’s podium at Mexico, the home crowd wanted their favorite to get the pole but because of an electrical problem, he couldn’t make it to the top at qualifying. The miscommunication with the Mexican driver didn’t cost the team much. The electrical issue led to a DRS issue, which later was rectified. Before finishing at P4 in Q3, Checo ended his run at P5 in Q2.
