Williams F1 team is currently under the transformation phase in the organization. Since Dorilton Capital made a significant investment in the team in the second half of 2021, the iconic British team has been in a better state financially.

This has freed them do not rely on hiring pay drivers to keep the team afloat. They signed Alex Albon to replace George Russell at the beginning of the 2022 season to show their intent. And now it looks like they might part away from the Canadian driver Nicholas Latifi for next season.

The Canadian has been with the team since the beginning of the 2020 season and brings in a considerable amount of investment to the team. But his performances have not been consistent enough to retain him.

So it was reported that Williams is looking at Oscar Piastri as a replacement for Latifi for 2023. But there have been some new reports suggesting that Dutch driver Nyck de Vries is also in consideration as a potential replacement.

Mercedes junior driver responds to reports of having a drive at Williams in 2023

De Vries is a Mercedes junior driver and has won Formula 2 and Formula E championships in his career. But he has not gotten his opportunity to race in Formula One just yet. But the Dutch driver mentioned that the reports of him driving at Williams for next season are just rumors.

“These rumors are new to me. I have no idea where you read them [the rumors, ed.] or where you encountered them. But then I am very curious where they got that from. Because honestly, I have no idea,” said the Dutch driver.

“Of course, Formula 1 is a dream. That is a dream for any young driver, but otherwise, I think it is all still quite early in the season. We are only at the sixth game in our championship. So yes, let’s first make sure we get a few points here again,” said Nyck.

Although nothing has been confirmed yet, Nyck has to be one driver who is in contention for the Williams seat. If he gets the drive, then it would be amazing to see him race against Alex Albon next season. But we’ll probably get a better idea once the silly season begins in a couple of months about his chances.
