Gaming and streaming would have been some drivers’ bread and butter if they were not in F1. Lando Norris is certainly one of them. As the F1 off-season is on, Norris will be busy enjoying his Twitch streaming while playing several games. Although besides that, he has also recently visited his first-ever Rocket League event. But, some of the comments he made over there might be concerning for his F1 as well as gaming career.

Lando visited the RLCS 2022 Fall Major happening in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The McLaren driver was pretty excited about the event. When he was discussing his gaming experience with some of his peers; Norris made a startling confession about his hand and brain coordination.

Given he has been gaming for a while now, few will expect him to be intimidated by a particular game’s controls. Also, as an F1 driver, Norris uses this skill set of handling multiple controls quickly at speeds of 200 mph. So it is startling and concerning to hear that his brain and fingers don’t connect very well at times.

Nonetheless, looking at his last 2 seasons, McLaren won’t be too phased about Norris’s hand coordination. Even if he loses out on concentration at times and still performs the way he has done in 2021 and 2022, he and his team will take it with both hands.

How Good is Lando Norris – Can he take on the Best in the Business?

4 years in F1 and Lando Norris is yet to get his first win. Though being fair to him, he has out-driven the McLaren car most of the time and performed exceptionally well. The number of podiums and consistent points finishes only point towards the Briton’s solid skill sets.

But is he good enough to take on Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc? Given we have not seen Lando in a race-winning car; it is hard to make a judgment. Yet, he has shown glimpses of his potential several times.

Norris’s first podium in 2020 back in Austria came after some stupendous overtaking moves toward the end of the race. Similarly, Norris put on a splendid showing in 2021 in Sochi to get his first-ever pole position in F1. On a day when even 7-time champion Lewis Hamilton faltered; Norris showed his skills in damp track conditions.

Although his misjudgment on race day in Russia cost him a maiden win, too. Staying out in increasingly rainy conditions, Norris slid out of the lead of the race. So, in terms of race strategy and handling pressure, he still needs to work with his team.

Regardless, the 23-year-old still needs a better car that can enable him to fight for wins. If McLaren can do so, we shall soon see Lando Norris battling with Verstappen or Leclerc.
