It seems Sergio Perez was saying the truth when he claimed Red Bull will implement some upgrades to the RB18. It seems the upgrades are already bearing fruits on the last day of practice at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The Austrians failed to impress at the Barcelona testing last month. And seemed as if they returned to Bahrain with the same car. Moreover, the Bulls were again not impressive on the first two days of the pre-season testing at Bahrain. However, Red Bull’s Mexican driver claimed his team had some upgrades in the store which they will reveal on Day 3.

Checo said, “We are not working on fast laps yet. That will come on Saturday on the last day of testing, then Max and I both have half a day. There will also be something new to see on the car then.”

The Mexican was right as he appeared on the third day with an upgraded Red Bull RB18. The latest RB18 had more refined and structured sidebars. Further, the new changes were already fruitful for the Austrian team as Checo set the faster lap on Day 3 around 1:34.733.

Red Bull boss calls out the budget cap issue

Red Bull is undoubtedly one of the best Formula One teams in the present times. Further, they even bought Mercedes total domination to an end last season. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the 2021 Drivers’ Championship. However, they eventually lost the Constructors’ Championship to the German constructors last year by a small margin.

However, the Austrian F1 team is back for the 2022 season with their latest challenger, RB18. As of now, the main issue the team is facing has to do with the budget cap. The Red Bull team principal Christian Horner stated the budget cap will be very impactful in the sport, especially because of the current tension in the world.

“What we see going on in the world is only going to drive prices one way. Inflation looks like it could hit record amounts. We’re seeing that impact already on things like air freight just to this event. I think it’s a very serious problem that we have to look at and address because this has a one-to-one impact on people’s jobs and livelihoods,” said Christian Horner.
