Eventually, Lewis Hamilton will head back to the Mercedes headquarters this week. The second round of pre-season testing in Bahrain will begin on Thursday, 10 March. The 37-year-old returns to Formula 1 this season after a controversial loss at last season’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He will look to partner with new teammate George Russell, who signed from Williams at the end of 2021.
Will Lewis Hamilton Create History in 2022?
Hamilton‘s quest towards an 8th title is on halt due to rival Verstappen’s victory. The Red Bull driver will go into the season high on confidence after his maiden title win. However, the Silver Arrows will look to avenge the loss in the new W13.

Both Mercedes drivers have also clocked impressive timings in the first testing in Barcelona. Hamilton has admitted that the new regulations make it harder to adapt in 2022. He was quoted earlier saying, “I think every year’s exciting,” he continued, “but of course [in] previous years it was an evolution of the previous year’s car, so in this one, it’s completely brand new.”
“Of course, I’ve seen the designs of our car over several months, but now to see everyone’s car out there, you’re trying to get a close eye to see what is different, if there is anything, why certain teams have chosen a certain route in terms of sidepod design, front wing and the floor.”
