In a fiercely competitive sport like Formula 1, experience may be one of the things that sets a good driver apart from a great one. And as the direct descendant of one of the greatest F1 drivers, Michael Schumacher, Mick Schumacher’s fate, had other plans. Owing to the health situation of his dad, the youngster never had the opportunity to pick up any useful advice from the sports icon. However, fortunately, our sport has two individuals with seven championships, with destiny playing its part. The young German is in the valuable company of Sir Lewis Hamilton, who is the second one to name himself the seven world championships. Implying that an F1 benchwarmer has advised Mick to take advantage of the golden opportunity.

The only German driver on the grid this year is Nico Hulkenberg, who is making a comeback to F1 races with Team Haas after spending the previous three seasons as a reserve. The German driver took the place of Mick Schumacher, another German, who the squad had dropped after a dismal two years with the American team.

Soon after the Hass broke off their relationship with Mick, Mercedes recruited him as a reserve driver to work alongside the legendary Lewis Hamilton and the skilled George Russell. Hulkenberg discussed the future of Schumacher with Mercedes in his interview with Sports Blid. He said, ” It just has to go on. It’s a chance for him to buy more time because he’s not in that seat at the moment and there’s no pressure on him to perform.”

Adding further, the Haas driver said, “At Mercedes, he will be able to learn a lot from one of the best drivers ever [Lewis Hamilton]. It’s a valuable experience that he can win there and use for himself.”

Season 2021 marked Mick Schumacher’s racing debut with Haas. However, his time with the team hasn’t been static, the German has encountered a wide variety of emotions. The American team also sacked the German driver from the squad as a result of the inconsistent performance. Yet ever since he entered the Mercedes garage, he has felt “comfortable.”

The German driver had no alternatives after Haas severed their relationship with Mick. However, the Silver Arrows were aware of his skill and hired him as the third driver for the team. The 23-year-old might have learned a lot from his time with German manufacturers. And now he has no intention of looking back. Instead, his focus remains on the future.

The 23-year-old spoke about the bad experience after Haas sacked him. As per F1 briefings, he said, “I’ve been sat on this stool there with my hands and my arms and just felt like the day was never going to end because I just wanted to jump in the car. I mean, it’s difficult to say.”

Speaking about his time at the Silver Arrows, Mick stated, “I feel very much at home at Mercedes. Therefore definitely have to see what options I have for the upcoming season. But also, I guess, a lot of that will be kind of shown as the years go by.”
