“Two people of color who win in the same week may not mean too much, but it is definitely a wonderful coincidence,” Lewis Hamilton said when he created history by being the first black person to claim the world title which happened two days after the historic Barack Obama victory in the US. While 14 years later, both men remain the only black people to have achieved their respective feat, they broke through a barrier that not many thought possible. And the two men gave the world a glimpse of history in the land down under.
The Formula 1 circus is currently camped up in Australia ahead of the Grand Prix. While the race happens on Sunday, a lot of activities involving free practices (which are being touted to be discontinued) and media activities begin midweek. For the same commitments and to set their biological clocks, the drivers land at a venue days ahead of the race. And then make the most of it. And the best bit about the race week was that it coincided with Barack’s engagement in the city, ‘An Evening with President Obama’ – where Australians heard about his ‘path to success’.

The 7x champion who has always been vocal about his admiration for former US President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle dined with them on Thursday. And the trio who the Formula 1 champion’s parents also joined. And as reported by the Daily Mail, had a fun evening over some wine and a $15 vodka martini. The food that graced the table was the broccoli bisque and a lamb main course. And for this very tryst, even the wine bar was shut down to give the celebrated people their privacy.
