Mercedes made a huge statement when they changed the color of their livery in 2020. The German team showed their support to Lewis Hamilton and his fight against inequality. It was unusual to see the team not run their iconic silver livery for two seasons. But it looks like the traditional silver colors may be making a return in the 2022 season. New Mercedes driver George Russell mentioned that he really likes the new color scheme of the livery.
The team had previously teased the change in colors when they announced the date of the livery launch.

Lewis Hamilton too mentioned that it would be a nice change for the team to switch colors. “I don’t have a particular feeling towards it. I’m not involved in that for next year [2022], and it is originally a Silver Arrows.
If it goes back, it will be a nice change. It doesn’t deter us from the changes that we are making internally, as we continue to truly push for diversity, even working with all of our partners,” said Hamilton.
