Lando Norris, the McLaren driver, recently opened up on Verstappen’s accomplishment. According to Motorsport Turkey, the Briton spoke about many more records to be broken by the Red Bull ace in the near future. Norris, who is quite close to Verstappen, shared his appreciation in a candid and Daniel Ricciardo-esque way.

Talking about this, Norris conveyed, “I’m not going to go and kiss Max. But what he’s accomplished is incredible. He’ll probably continue to break records for the rest of his career. He’s one of the best drivers in F1. So he deserves everything.” [Translated using Google]

Max Verstappen holds a new F1 record

Absolute domination would be much of an understatement when it comes to Max Verstappen’s 2022 F1 season. The Dutchman has excelled in every aspect and left all the drivers far behind. As the Dutchman won the Japanese Grand Prix, he retained his F1 world title and took his 2022 wins to 12.

Following the race in Japan, the Dutchman won again in the United States and finally, in Mexico, Verstappen reached a milestone nobody could reach before and that is 14 race wins in a single season! With this, the 25-year-old driver broke the record of Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel.

Both Schumacher and Vettel set this record in 2004 and 2013, respectively. During these years, the Germans utterly dominated F1. However, the time has changed as Max Verstappen is the star of the show now.

With two races to go to Brazil and Abu Dhabi, it’ll be interesting to see if the young Dutchman can take his winning tally to 16.

If the Dutchman manages to do so, he will achieve a win rate of 72.7%, basically the same as Schumacher’s in 2004, i.e. 72.2%. This should surely put an end to the discussion surrounding how Verstappen had it easy, as we now have 22 races in a season.

Although, with races in Brazil and Abu Dhabi left, Max already has a win rate of 72%. Do you think this is a start to a new Red Bull-dominated era, or will Mercedes and Ferrari be able to pull up their socks the next season to make the sport competitive once again?
