The inspiration to succeed in Formula 1 has always come from the sport’s greats. Whether it was Senna, Prost, Mansell, or Schumacher, the current generation of drivers watch their idols growing up and want to emulate them. In the past decade, Lewis Hamilton has been one such inspiration.
The new crop of drivers has immaculate talent, to say the least. One of them is George Russell, Hamilton’s current teammate. Russell himself is a big admirer of the seven time world champion and to drive alongside him in the pinnacle of motor sport is an achievement he will remember forever.

The young Briton revealed his appreciation for his fellow driver. He also reflected on Hamilton’s role in improving the team and keeping them on their toes.
George Russell feels inspired by Lewis Hamilton
Everyone knows these movies from their childhood. The ones where the quiet, but determined protagonist, overcomes all odds and emerges victorious against indomitable foes. The one who thinks, speaks and acts in terms of ‘we’ rather than ‘I’. And George Russell feels Hamilton is one of those protagonists and a team player, like his boss Toto Wolff.
The 24-year-old said, “He’s an inspirational driver, inspirational character and similar to Toto, how he motivates and pushes the team forward. Yeah, it’s pretty impressive to see. I feel I’m in such a privileged position, you know, that at 24 years old I get to sit in the garage alongside Lewis, and see how the best has done it.”
In a sport where you are expected to lose repeatedly before you win and where every achievement is only that much closer to defeat in the next race, Hamilton’s story feels like a fairytale. The Brit has inspired many and will continue to do so, without a doubt.
Russell reveals the reason behind his solid start
Meanwhile, Mercedes have started the season disappointingly as Ferrari and Red Bull emerge as the favorites. However, as there is a new track on offer, the Silver Arrows will hope to capitalize on it.

Russell has had an impressive start to his Mercedes career, while his teammate has struggled with the results. At the same time, he suggested that his experience with Williams has helped him to perform better so far.
The 24-year-old said, “Perhaps with my struggles at Williams driving very difficult cars, maybe that has helped in some small regard. Q1 and Q2 for us now is massively important whereas previously for Mercedes that was a breeze, it was almost a build-up session getting ready for Q3.”
