2014 remains one of the best F1 seasons for Daniel Ricciardo. Finishing P1 thrice in Hungary, Belgium, and Canada, he gained immense popularity in his home country, Australia. Such was the craze for the Honey Badger that he was called on the TV show The Project in 2015. A moment from the interview that left him blushing involved pop star Kylie Minogue.

Daniel Ricciardo made a switch to Red Bull in 2014, partnering with 4-time world champion Sebastian Vettel. He took the world of Formula 1 by storm when he beat his champion teammate on points. Finishing third in the points tally, he had a 71-point lead on Vettel. That surely had to earn him all the fandom.

Kylie Minogue’s fangirl moment for Daniel Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo was greeted with loud cheers as he joined the panel that included Kylie Minogue. As a fan, one would ask him for an autograph. However, Kylie had three photographs she wanted Daniel to sign.

She asked him, Can I ask for a favor? Can I have not one, not two, but three autographs?” As Kylie held up three photographs, Ricciardo asked her if she was serious. When Kylie told him she was, Daniel responded, I’m blushing.”

The pop star continued, One for me and those two for my nephews because I’m going to be the best auntie!”

Ricciardo, in his ever-joking mood, said, This will be an authentic autograph. Not one of those screen-printed ones that I give all the other fans.”

Ricciardo joined McLaren in 2021 from Renault. While in his 2-year stint he failed to impress with the Woking-based team, he did register a win in Italy last year. The 2022 season, however, did not go as per plans. Resultantly, the Australian’s 3-year contract was cut short to 2. McLaren CEO Zak Brown remains his fan though.

Zak Brown intended to bring Daniel Ricciardo to his team earlier

After a failed stint at McLaren, Ricciardo decided to take a break from the role of a regular F1 driver. He has now joined his old team, Red Bull, as a reserve and developmental driver. Zak Brown, however, admitted he wanted to bring Daniel to his team when he joined Renault and will forever remain his fan.

Talking with Kayo Sports in October, Zak said, “I tried to get Daniel before he went to Renault, so this was years in the making. I’m a huge Daniel fan. I’m still a huge Daniel fan and that’ll never change.”
