Remember how Sebastian Vettel was considered Michael Schumacher’s successor? Despite that, Vettel was not able to match Schumacher’s record. However, Max Verstappen now has a chance as Former F1 driver draws a comparison with Michael Schumacher after the well-crafted Miami GP win. But who is this Former F1 driver and on what basis did he make the comparison?
Max Verstappen has been a different beast altogether when it comes to dominating races in 2023. Had it not been for the odd reliability issue and bad luck with safety car timing, Max Verstappen would’ve won all 5 races. Miami was another stellar performance where, despite starting P9, Verstappen easily overtook everyone, was faster than his teammate on old rubber, and dominated the race.
This dominance of Verstappen has made a Former F1 driver compare him to the great Michael Schumacher. Giancarlo Fisichella explained how Michael Schumacher dominated and won everything in his Ferrari years. The Dutchman’s race craft was compared to Schumacher’s, as Fisichella suggested that the German was the strongest when it came to race management. He went on to suggest that Max Verstappen and Red Bull may continue to dominate if the situation remains the same.

According to Motorsport.com, Giancarlo Fisichella said, “I competed against him when Schumacher won everything with Ferrari, and I think there was no one as strong as Michael in racing management. It has continued to be number one until today. But if we talk about his ability to drive, Max Verstappen is on the same level. I’m afraid Max will dominate the sport for a long time if his relationship with Red Bull remains so strong.”
Fisichella isn’t the only one who speaks fondly of Max Verstappen’s race pace and management. The Red Bull taskmaster also praised Max Verstappen after the Miami GP as he suggested how Verstappen taught everyone a lesson.

After Sergio Perez proved this season why he’s called the King of the street circuit, Max Verstappen humbled him by winning at the Miami street circuit convincingly. Helmut Marko suggested that while Checo has a clear advantage on some street circuits, Verstappen reminded everyone why he is a world champion while stamping his authority on the title. He explained how well the Dutchman managed his tires and race as he set the fastest lap at the end of the race.
According to OE24.com, Helmut Marko said, “That was always clear. Checo has certain street circuits where he is strong. But in Miami, Max taught everyone a lesson. Nobody can imitate the way he managed the tires so that the fastest lap was still possible at the end.”
