Nico Rosberg recalls an unforgettable gesture by Kimi Raikkonen

Formula One had brought on some rule changes at the end of the 2013 season. The sport was entering the Turbo-Hybrid era of engines in the 2014 season. Another change was that the sport had allowed drivers to choose their own numbers for their cars.

Raikkonen initially wanted to take the number 6 but chose 7 in the end.

” I mean, there was a chance that I take 6 because I won the championship with it. But I knew that Rosberg wanted [6] because his father won the championship with it so I just keep what I had and that’s fine for me,” said Raikkonen on why he chose 7 as his number.

Nico Rosberg thanked Kimi for this gesture in his congratulatory post for the Alfa Romeo driver.

“This is a gesture I’ll never forget. Thank you, Kimi. An absolute legend of our sport… all the best for what’s coming next Enjoy the time with your family!” wrote Rosberg while wishing Raikkonen.
