Sergio Perez added another gem to his King of Streets crown when he claimed the medieval streets of Baku yesterday. However, the real show was won by what unfolded in parc ferme. A very pissed Max Verstappen, who mind you always goes for the gap, didn’t like when he was at the receiving end of the same. And another spectacle of Mercedes versus Red Bull was served to us.

George Russell has been the only Mercedes man who has taken a fight to Verstappen at least in the past year. And as we saw in Albert Park, phenomenal reaction time from seeing the Dutchman biting the dust, running a good number of laps behind a much slower car. A similar visual was seen when we went Sprint racing in Baku. Max trumped again but this time the damage he picked couldn’t let him overtake Charles Leclerc. A very pissed Verstappen began making his displeasure felt on the radio. And when the 17-lap run ended, the hell broke loose.

The camera caught the interaction of Verstappen, who walked up to George wanting to give him a piece of his mind. When the drivers arrived in the media pen, the Red Bull driver was still carrying forward with the same rage which he has often instilled in other drivers not leaving space. The journalists in the media pen told Max that George had an absolutely different notion in mind as he thought the Dutchman was walking up to him to “congratulate me for the fight.” Evidently pissed Verstappen said, “If you think like that, you really stupid.”

Charles Leclerc claimed two pole positions in a span of 24 hours. And the man has been the only pole sitter in the past editions of the event as well. That is the magic Leclerc exhibits around these dramatic streets and the Maranello clan is confident in his skills.

As quoted by Motorsports Italy, Laurent Mekies stated, “It is a great pole for the team. Charles, yes, he is very special here [in Baku], he has something extra. He’s already very strong in qualifying, but we have to pay tribute to the fact that he has something extra in Baku. In the last two years, he has been in pole position. But the reality is that it was also positive to have both cars battling for the top four positions.”
