Williams’s George Russell is one of the most exciting young talents in Formula 1 currently. He has offered Williams fans hope that their team could score a point in over a year. Russell came close in Imola last weekend; however, an unfortunate error sent the driver right into the wall.

Multiple rumors over the course of the last few weeks suggested that George Russell may lose his seat in Williams. However, the team recently announced that Russell will continue with Williams for next season.

In a recent interview, Russell opened up about the conversation he had with the team. “We’ll continue with George and Nicholas in 2021.”

George Russell explained that the speculations had him a little worried. He said, “It didn’t matter whether the stories were true or false. It was about my place on the team. And of course I was worried.

“Simon, the new owners, and I had a clarifying conversation. There it was made clear that we have a contract. Period. “

George Russell suffered a devastating outing in Imola

Considering the limitations of the FW43, George Russell has performed exceptionally well this season. He has out-qualified his teammate Nicholas Latifi is all 34 races. This season, he catapulted Williams into Q2 in 8 out of 12 races.

The Briton was in 10th place during the Safety Car phase introduced by Max Verstappen’s tire blowout. Russell overstrained the tire limits in a bid to find the optimal temperature.

He said, “I accelerate, shift up, and a small bump in the ground pricks me out. Until I can see, I’m stuck in the wall.”

The rookie was later seen sitting down by the circuit, devastated at the thought of mistake. He criticised himself saying, “A rookie mistake that I can’t explain to myself.

“I’m very angry with myself. We were incredibly fast in this race for our standards, and then I throw the car away so easily.”

George Russell seems on a mission to earn points with his Williams. Hopefully, the Formula 1 community will get to celebrate Russell’s first points before the end of 2020 season.
