20 racers go out on the track and in the end, Max Verstappen wins. This has been the story of the current season for a record-equaling 13 times already. The sheer dominance from Red Bull and their dutchman has become a hugely frustrating scenario for others on the grid. This has especially been the case with Charles Leclerc and even for Lewis Hamilton at the US Grand Prix.

Hamilton is currently fighting to maintain and extend his record of securing a race win in every season since his debut. Despite the constant improvements, Mercedes hasn’t surpassed its rivals Red Bull and Ferrari in terms of race pace.

“It was so, so close and I did everything I could to try and stay ahead but they were just a little bit too quick today. The car was a handful today and firstly, it felt amazing to be in the lead. That is something we have been working so hard on throughout the year and we have had so much hope,” said Hamilton in the post-race interview.

The upgrades for the US Grand Prix were clearly not enough, as Hamilton‘s lead quickly evaporated and Verstappen snatched another win.

The frustrating result led to an honest conversation between Leclerc and Hamilton in the cooldown room. “I tried so hard to stay ahead and beat him,” confessed Hamilton to the Ferrari man.
