If you love partying, some F1 drivers can take you to the craziest of them. There are several anecdotes drivers often share about their off-track antics. But the McLaren duo of Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris shared the craziest of them all in May this year.

Ahead of the 2022 Miami GP, Daniel Ricciardo spilled the beans on his hotel shenanigans in a panel discussion at the Hilton hotel. The Aussie driver recalled one of his crazy enjoyable stays at a hotel when he probably partied a little too much.

As per the New York Post, he said, “I mean, I didn’t merely trash the room, I trashed the whole floor [of the hotel].” Daniel may have exaggerated his story to some extent. Although he explained how things can go wild when drivers party and enjoy themselves in hotels.

His McLaren teammate Lando Norris too agreed with this and shared one of his party anecdotes. Norris revealed a story of his team taking over the entire floor of a Hilton hotel for a massive party in 2019.

He mentioned, “We got kicked out of the pool. We were being naughty in the pool and everyone, not just me, got kicked out. So we went up to the rooms (and) had a nice party in the rooms.”

Lando surely would not want to party with Daniel again, as no one knows how “naughty” or crazy, they might end up being.

Either way, Ricciardo had fewer reasons to party in 2022, as his best result was a 5th-place finish in Singapore. The Honey Badger eventually lost his McLaren drive despite having a year left on his contract.

Was 2022 the Worst Season for Daniel Ricciardo?

Daniel Ricciardo was hoping to start on a fresh note with the 2022 aero regulations, leveling the playing field. Daniel expected he might adapt to the 2022 car better than how he did with last year’s car. Although McLaren altogether had lots of issues at the start of the season.

The newly designed MCL36 was probably too inconsistent in the first half of the season, with track-specific performance. This doubled down on Ricciardo’s 2021 ailments. While he retired in Saudi Arabia, the Aussie scraped through to the points at his home race in Melbourne, with a P6 finish.

Since then, the Honey Badger struggled badly, only getting in the lower half of the top 10 in a few races. This was until the Singapore GP at Marina Bay when he and his teammate Norris benefitted from a timely safety car. The McLaren duo finished in the top 5.

Although the only time, he may have looked alive, as the old Ricciardo was in Mexico. Ricciardo went on an overtaking spree after colliding with Yuki Tsunoda at Turn 6 of the Mexico City circuit. Yet, his inconsistency in not being on Lando’s pace for a 2nd season running was probably the major reason behind his exit from Woking.
