The 2022 F1 Commission meeting was held on Monday. The subject of the meeting was to discuss several issues, such as sprint format, budget caps, and the infamous Abu Dhabi controversy. Although there are not a lot of details surrounding the findings of the FIA investigation for the Abu Dhabi controversy, both Toto Wolff and Christian Horner attended the meeting.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem mentioned that both team principals were in harmony with each other. Sulayem mentioned both Horner and Wolff agreed on many issues that were discussed in the meeting.

As reported by Sky Sports, the FIA is investigating several controversial issues that were raised in the 2021 season, including the last lap or the season finale. The Mercedes AMG team will closely monitor the result of the investigation. But the FIA president mentioned that it was a good meeting for all parties.

“They were in line. I think it’s because of Valentine’s Day. They were close to each other, and they were in a good mood, so that was good. I expected more entertainment, but it was good to see the harmony between them,” said Ben Sulayem.

“We agreed on certain things and the analysis is still going on. But it will come soon… it was a good discussion there. So we will see,” said Wolff.

Well, it is nice to see Wolff and Horner agreeing on something for a change. Both of them would be paying close attention to the developments in the coming weeks from this commission meeting.

We expect that both Mercedes and Red Bull will fight against each other in the upcoming season as well. So it is essential for both teams to monitor each other’s progress and get the jump on their near rivals. Red Bull would pay a close eye when the Mercedes launch their W 13 on February 18.
