The three-week-long F1 break has sent all the fans into sorrow. All seems lost on the weekends when our favorite drivers aren’t racing. So, to keep the fans entertained, Max Verstappen decided to step up and cater to his family and fans at the same time. During this off time, the reigning champion continued streaming with his sim racing team and delivered some of the greatest moments to come out of the dark and boring times for his fans.

During their off time, while the other drivers take up other sports such as football, golf, or paddle, the Red Bull driver sticks to the basics, i.e., sim racing. So, while Max has kept himself away from swinging any clubs, his counterpart and rival, Lando Norris, has been a big fan of golf and has even participated in some pro-am tournaments. When asked when he’d like to golf with Lando, Verstappen, in a clip taken from his stream, said, “I really don’t like golf; I would be the caddie,” designating himself the role of support for Lando in case he ever does visit a golf course.

One can thus now only imagine an aggressive and fast racer such as Max himself driving a golf cart up and down the slopes of a course while Lando Norris screams in the back seat, holding on to his dear life.

The lesser-known bromance of Max Verstappen and Lando Norris

Max and Lando have never driven for the same team at any point in their careers. Yet, the two have shared some great moments together when they used to race together on the sim. So, what caused the rift between the two? Nothing dramatic happened except the formation of Lando’s Team Quadrant and his shift towards golf.

Speaking about his time sim racing with Max, Lando in 2021, as quoted by the GP Blog, said, “No. Max and I had a lot of fun and also won a virtual 24 hour race together. That was great. He is a nice guy and we click, but I now have my own e-sports team Quadrant and that makes it a bit more complicated.”

He added, “Now I have switched to golf. I’m still pretty bad and will never be a Tiger Woods, but am just as driven on the holes as I am on the course. It’s healthier than that sim. I’m seeing more daylight and I’m a lot browner than I used to be, too.”

This side, or rather the crossover between the two drivers, is fairly little known. The two are still seen having a laugh here and there. Therefore, we can’t rule out Max seriously taking up the role of caddie and maybe having a few swings himself soon alongside Norris.
