While the Danish racer did not initially take the offer seriously, he had some hopes. While on vacation with his family, Steiner finally informed Magnussen that Haas wants him back. Cut to a few days later, here is Magnussen back in Formula One racing.
The Return of Kevin Magnussen
Visibly, both Magnussen and Grosjean shared a quarrelsome bond with Guenther Steiner. While it disappointed him when Haas dropped him back in 2020, he still reportedly left the American team on good terms.

Amidst the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Haas had to terminate their contract with Nikita Mazepin. This sent the team on a last-minute driver search as the 2022 season is right around the corner. Fortunately, Haas had a list of drivers they wanted on board. And Magnussen was their top choice.
K-Mag will pair alongside Schumacher
Amidst all this, Haas was looking for an experienced replacement to race alongside the German, Mick Schumacher. While there were many racers on their list, Magnussen took the top spot. Magnussen has recently opened up on his return and said, “I ran out of motivation to be running at the back”. He further added that he enjoyed his time with the midfield car until the last two years arrived. “Then I went away, did some other racing and got podiums, pole positions and wins, and that was really fun.”

Magnussen was already in a contract when he received the call. However, Haas promised him an upgraded car, motivated team, and a multi-year deal, which K-Mag couldn’t resist.
Fans are excited to have him back as he will test for Haas alongside Schumacher and Pietro Fittipaldi. The racing fraternity will also look forward to his pairing with Mick as well as their first GP together at Bahrain on 20th March.
