Max Verstappen swept away the Driver’s Championship while Red Bull snatched up the Constructor’s Championship trophy. By all accounts, the major fun of the season should be over, right? Not quite.
Even though the championship winners are decided, there is excitement building for the remaining three races. For one, there is the anticipation over whether Mercedes will finally break their winless season curse. Will Lewis Hamilton manage to keep up his record of one victory in every season in 2022?

The Mercedes team principal is still holding out hope for the win, albeit cautiously.
Mercedes has previously claimed favorable conditions and tracks, but then ultimately suffered a loss in the Sunday races. Now, understandably, Toto Wolff is cautious about his optimism lest he jinxes their fate.
Speaking about the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix, Toto Wolff was hopeful about their chances for a long-yearned victory. However, he admitted to guarding his hopes with care as he said, “I need to bite my tongue because sometimes this year I have said we should be good looking good at a particular track and then we didn’t, and the other way around.”
“So on paper, Mexico looks good. Our draggy car should be effective in the thin air, so yeah, I hope we can give them [Red Bull] a run for their money.”
Hopefully, Toto Wolff’s caution bears fruit and Mercedes scores its first victory of the season at Mexico. It would be quite the spectacle to see Mercedes win on Checo’s home track.
Toto Wolff says the Mercedes W13 DNA will change for next year
While Mercedes might hold out hope for at least one victory this season, the reality is that only three races remain in it. At this point, it is wiser to start preparing for a stronger start for the next season.
And Toto Wolff is no stranger to this fact, as he and his team have already started looking ahead to 2023.
Lewis Hamilton and George Russell have been tussling and struggling with the W13 throughout the season. In that light, it is no secret that Mercedes will have to make some changes if they are to beat Red Bull.

Speaking about the changes that Mercedes would have to undergo for 2023, Toto said, “I think the DNA of the car is going to change for next year, that’s clear.”
“It doesn’t necessarily mean that our bodywork is going to look very different but certainly, what is part of the DNA of the car, the architecture, will be changed for next year.”
